(1) Introduction
🔸The large pagoda is several metres high and is entirely carved from white stone. It has multiple floors, and each floor is dedicated to the “鎏金 Buddha”. The large pagoda is enshrined in Ban Foo Monastery.
(2) Significance of Pagoda
🔸The pagoda means a gathering place of high merits and virtue. It represents the Buddha's dharmakaya. Seeing the pagoda is like seeing the Buddha.
🔸 Mahāsaṅghikavinaya says : Hundreds and thousands of loads of real gold, held and given to others, are not as good as a ball of clay used to repair a pagoda with respect." "Building and honouring pagodas with piety and respect has more immeasurable merit than giving away hundreds and thousands of pounds of gold."
🔸To build and honor a pagoda with respect and devotion has more merits and virtue than giving a thousand quintals of gold. The building of pagodas is a powerful way to purify sins, to accumulate immense merits and to attain bodhichitta.
🔸In the Sutra of Parables, Buddha says that there are 10 benefits of pagoda building:
not be reborn in a border region , free from poverty , not be reborn a stupid person or with wrong views ,to live a long life ,be king of a great country ,have a strong physique & strength , to be granted vast blessings ,have the blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas ,have the three understandings, six faculties, and eight liberations ,be reborn in the ten purelands
🔸Whether one builds or teaches others to build pagodas, it will bring great virtues to self and others, and will lead to fulfillment of one's own path. Please join us in this auspicious offering!

🔸Purification and unveiling ceremony:
💫The meritorious donor will be invited to attend the purification ceremony of the Great Pagoda during the Buddha’s Birthday Dharma Ceremony and unveil the Great Pagoda in person.
🔸After the donation, the Sangha shall hold a chanting and dedication of merit for all the donors for three consecutive years.
🔸At the end of the year, the Monastery shall make an overall dedication to the benefactor:
By offerings to the foundation of the pagoda, dedicating my merits to the foundation of my work and career, which will be solid and prosperous, my family will be safe and auspicious, my body and mind be at peace, longevity and blissful, and all obstacles such as illness, karmic obstacles, and troubles be eliminated. In all the lifetimes, be blessed with wealth and honour in heaven and on earth, and have the human life of leisure and opportunities to study the true Dharma. The foundation of the Buddha's Dharma will be solid, and one will quickly attain Buddhahood and benefit all living beings.
