🔶 Special Introduction to the Maha-Prajnaparamita Repentance
👉 The Great Prajnaparamita Repentance was composed by the renowned Qing Dynasty monk, Venerable Renshan Jizhen. It is based on the 600-scrolls of Maha-Prajnaparamita Sutra and incorporates practices of prostrating to the names of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas frequently mentioned in the sutra.
👉 This repentance text is rich in content and encompasses supreme practices such as taking refuge, paying homage, making offerings, repentance, and rejoicing. Ban Foo Monastery has long upheld the recitation of the Maha-Prajnaparamita Sutra, studying the graduated path to enlightenment and the five great treatises, thus maintaining an inseparable connection to the lineage of Prajna Dharma and this repentance practice.
👉 If participants sincerely take refuge, respectfully repent, and make strong aspirations to swiftly attain enlightenment, they will receive the blessings and support of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, ensuring they will never stray from the path of Prajnaparamita across lifetimes.
🔶 Significance of the Puja
1. On 4 April 2025, Friday, the Qingming Festival, the monastic sangha of Ban Foo Monastery will lead the community in offering 300 recitations of the Maha-Prajnaparamita Repentance as part of the "Qingming Filial Piety and Gratitude Maha-Prajnaparamita Repentance Blessing and Transcendence Puja." The purpose is to swiftly dispel the negative karma and afflictions of all beings!
2. A grand offering will be conducted before the Buddha. Both monastics and lay devotees will sincerely offer to the Triple Gem and dedicate the merits of the puja for blessings and transcendence. With the combined power of the puja's merits and the sangha's blessings, the dedication will benefit all prayer plaques submitted.
3. A grand fire offering will be performed to make offerings to all virtuous deities and spirits in the ten directions. This act seeks to enhance their spiritual power, protect the endeavors of the Dharma, safeguard the sangha and laity in their rightful practice, and ensure the safety and well-being of the donors’ families.
4. The merits of the entire puja will be dedicated to donors and their families: For the living: Peace and safety for the entire family, physical and mental health, growth in wisdom and blessings, unhindered Dharma study, and swift attainment of enlightenment. For the deceased: Rebirth in Pure Land, diligent study of the Dharma, and ultimate realization of Buddhahood.
👉 Online Offering Closing: 1 April 2025, Tuesday at 9:00 PM
