🔶 The Supreme Medicine King — Medicine Buddha
Before attaining Buddhahood, the Medicine Buddha, who is associated with the elimination of disasters and the prolong life, made twelve great vows. All these vows were directed toward enabling sentient beings to experience various forms of happiness in this life and attain ultimate enlightenment. If one can sincerely worship the Medicine Buddha and practice according to the Dharma, they will surely receive the compassionate protection of the Medicine Buddha, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
🔶Special Introduction to "The Compassionate Medicine Buddha Repentance"
The Compassionate Medicine Buddha Repentance states: "Most beings have limited capabilities and cannot fully perform offerings or adorn a place of practice as described in the scriptures. Therefore, this method of repentance, aimed at eliminating disasters and prolonging life, was translated from the Sutra of the Original Vows and Merits of Medicine Master Lapis Lazuli Light Tathagata. It allows beings to invite practitioners or lay practitioners, both men and women of virtuous faith, to gather at a temple or in their homes. Together, they can make offerings according to their means and sincerely chant and worship the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas following the rituals, ensuring that all their wishes will be fulfilled."
🔶Auspicious Puja
1. On 31 October, Thursday, Ban Foo Monastery will celebrate the holy birthday of the Medicine Buddha, with the esteemed Venerable Jingyuan presiding over the "Auspicious Medicine Buddha Birthday Blessing and Rebirth Repentance Puja." Through the collective power of the Sangha practice, the supreme blessings of the Three Jewels, and the sincere devotion of those praying, merits will be dedicated to the donors and their families: "May those who seek blessings purify their negative karma, attract good fortune, avoid misfortune, eliminate disasters, prolong life, maintain physical and mental well-being, overcome obstacles in life and health, enjoy smooth careers, abundant financial resources, harmonious families, and have all their wishes fulfilled! May the deceased be reborn in the Pure Land, practice the true Dharma, and attain Buddhahood."
2. The Sangha will sincerely perform the Compassionate Medicine Buddha Repentance, conduct a grand offering before the Buddha, pray for the elimination of disasters, and dedicate merits to the deceased for their rebirth.
